Now that we can safely assume the snow will stay gone for a few months, we’ve begun some renovations on the Golden Treasure Maple Syrup facility. We are expanding our sugar house, increasing the capacity of our maple syrup bottling area, and we’re improving our parking area. By syrup season next spring, we’ll be ready to share our delicious maple syrup with plenty of guests at once.
Our 2016 maple syrup season isn’t over yet folks! Although the weather outside is definitely frightful today (think 20 cm of snow), we expect the sap to run again in a few days and we’ll be back in delicious business. So far, the 2016 syrup season has been what we hoped for. Tapping was a breeze thanks to a great tapping team. A few new faces, combined with our seasoned veterans, made tapping this year interesting and enjoyable. No major equipment failures (knock wood, quick!) and average tubing damage in the bush allowed us to welcome the early sap flow this year without any serious hitches. We’ve produced really wonderful tasting syrup; so far we’ve made all grades with the exception of Very Dark.
The Maple Weekend on April 2nd and 3rd was a great way to welcome new visitors to our maple farm. We met some great people and made some new friends. Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed some warm maple-apple cider on an unseasonably chilly snowy weekend!
